Meet Dr. Samantha Peters

Samantha Peters, PT, DPT, FDNS, CSCS, CCRT, is a dedicated animal lover whose journey into the world of canine rehabilitation began with her childhood companion, a Black Lab/Irish Setter mix. Inspired by her early connection with animals, she pursued a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Driven by a passion for both human and canine well-being, she earned her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Building on her commitment to animal health, Dr. Peters furthered her expertise by obtaining the Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) credential from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Coral Springs, Florida. Additionally, she completed certification as a Functional Dry Needling Specialist through Evidence in Motion.

In her personal life, Dr. Peters, along with her husband, shares their home with three beloved dogs—Chris, Kyle, and Zoey. Chris and Kyle, both chocolate lab/pit mixes adopted from the same litter, faced health challenges with torn CCLs (Canine Cruciate Ligaments) and underwent successful TPLO surgeries. This experience motivated Dr. Peters to pursue her CCRT, contributing to her comprehensive understanding of canine rehabilitation.

The couple also welcomed Sheila, a female blue heeler, into their family. Despite facing various medical ailments, Sheila's journey solidified Dr. Peters' dedication to formal canine treatment. In response to her passion and expertise, she founded Happy Paws Rehabilitation and Wellness, LLC, where she has been instrumental in aiding both domestic and exotic animals on their paths to recovery.

While sadly, Sheila has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, Dr. Peters' commitment to animal care persists. In early 2022, the family expanded with the addition of Zoey, a vibrant husky. Dr. Peters now focuses on the holistic wellness of puppies, navigating the challenges of sharp puppy teeth with enthusiasm. Beyond the professional realm, the household thrives on the energetic and playful dynamics of their furry companions, ensuring that everyone, even with their sharp puppy teeth, has a blast!
